SDM College, Ujire is an autonomous college under Mangalore University. Founded in 1966, the college offers Bachelors and Masters Programmes in a serene campus at the foothills of the Western Ghats in Karnataka (India). The college is a recognized center for research programs of Mangalore University, Tumkur University, and Kannada University, Hampi. Managed by SDM Educational Society, it is headed by the visionary, Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala.
The SDM Degree College, Ujire 193.8 kWp rooftop solar power plant is to be set up for three buildings on the campus. Both the plants were installed on the Sheet & RCC roofs of the buildings and supply power directly to the load below. Any excess power generated is fed back to the public grid which is “Net Metered” to get credit for the excess. The energy fed to the facility are measured using a certified energy meter and billed monthly to the client.
The rooftop solar PV installed capacity at SDM Degree College, Ujire is 193.8 KWp, is constructed using high performance 380kWp mono-crystalline solar PV modules totaling 510 nos., 1 no. 50KW and 1 no. 100KW high-efficiency Sungrow inverter enabled with online monitoring which will help to understand and track real-time electricity production and consumption on the go. The solar PV plant was commissioned in August 2020.
